I’d like to extend a huge “thank you” to the amazing staff Western Seminary, who asked me to teach two workshops on Writers on the Web. Unfortunately (well, for them, anyway), one of my dearest friends, author Christina Berry chose this date to become Christina Berry Tarabochia – and there’s no way I’d miss my critique group partner’s wedding! (More on the wedding later.) I immediately called my other terrific writer friend, Cornelia Becker Seigneur, one of the coordinators of the conference, and they arranged to drop one of my workshops and slot the existing workshop into the last session of the day, so I’d have time to attend the wedding and then make the 45-minute drive from the church (in rural Washington County) to Western (in SE Portland). What a busy day!
I arrived 45 minutes early, got settled in and met my classroom assistant (the ever-helpful Dennis Smirl, a fellow OCW member), who helped make classroom arrangements. I got a breather to chat with the gal from SoundX Design (who do recordings for the conference) and then it was time for clss.
And what a great class! I was told there would be 13 members in my class, so I made 20 handouts. Turned out to be 25! They were a fun, interesting bunch and I met some really great authors. Thank you to all who showed up to hear me prattle for an hour, and gave such wonderful feedback.
So, without further ado (about time, you’re thinking), here are the class handouts if you missed it or weren’t able to grab one. Don’t forget, you can also order and audio copy of the workshop on CD by emailing soundxdesign@yahoo.com.
Thanks for stopping by!

What a wealth of information in such a short time! I came away with a short-term goal of landing on a domain name (not easy since when I google “my” name I get a fashion photgrapher from Ottawa!) and creating a purposeful blog for my writing, and a long-term goal of developing a website to encourage, equip and empower women in their walk with Christ, Sounds like a tag-line, doesn’t it? Thank you for a great workshop, Angella, it really was inspiring!
Thanks so much, Tina! I had a great time leading the workshop. And yes, that’s a wonderful tagline!
One that I forgot to mention is adding your middle initial if your name is taken (such angellakforet.com).
This was such a helpful workshop! I had no idea you’d just rushed in from a wedding–wow what a day! You are a gift to us; can’t wait to follow more of what you’re doing here. Big thanks.
Thank you, Kari – I don’t think I mentioned in my email how nice it was to see your smiling face in the audience.
(For those who haven’t seen her lovely site, it’s http://www.karipatterson.com/ – a gal after my own heart!)
Thanks for the tip Angella! I went ahead and took the plunge to register a domain name that is not linked to my name. But I did use the tagline
I am now rejoicingourhearts.com Loving that WordPress will publish directly to my Facebook and Twitter ~ your tips gave me the push to ‘grow up’ into my purpose for writing. Thank You!
